Your eggs have come from Daniel Hawthorne, Co. Monaghan (1IER – Lee Farm). Daniel is Belview’s newest and youngest farm. Daniel received his Green Cert in Ballyhaise and has been farming since he was 18, dealing with lambs and Angus cows. In 2017 he decided to venture into egg production and in October 2018 his 12,000 free range hen house was fully constructed. Daniel was crowned 2018 FBD Young Farmer of the Year on the 11thof September and with a 140 acre farm we are very excited to see what else Daniel is capable of. His words of wisdom to other young farmers – ‘Every man’s situation is different, don’t doubt yourself. I was doubting myself when I was first coming forward and I’m quite happy that I’ve come through all this’. Daniel’s house is approved by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and is certified with Bord Bia under the Sustainable Egg Assurance Scheme.
